Kaxite PTFE Molded Rod is a compression molded and free-sintered virgin or filled PTFE round bar with a homogeneous, stress-relieved structure. Standard diameters range from 25 mm to 500 mm with a 300 mm standard length; custom diameters, cut lengths and machined parts are available to drawing. Typical bulk density is 476 g/l, tensile strength 32.7 MPa, specific gravity 2.14 and hardness 58 Shore D. Service range is −200 °C to +250 °C, with 0% shrinkage (ASTM D-570) for dimensional stability. The material is self-lubricating, chemically inert and an excellent dielectric, making it suitable for seals, bearings, insulators and food or chemical contact parts. Virgin and all filled grades are supported. Samples are available for evaluation before bulk orders.
PTFE Molded Rod — Machinable Stock for Seals, Bearings and Insulators
25 – 500 mm dia.Virgin & Filled GradesOEM Cut-to-Length
Kaxite PTFE Molded Rod is compression molded from virgin PTFE resin and free-sintered to full
density. The result is a homogeneous, stress-relieved round bar that machines cleanly into
seals, bearings, insulators and precision parts. With a very low coefficient of friction, the
material is self-lubricating and does not require external oil or grease.
Service temperature reaches −200 °C to +250 °C, and the material is chemically
inert across aggressive acids, bases and solvents. Rods are available in virgin and all common
filled grades, in diameters from 25 mm to 500 mm.
PTFE Molded Rod is produced by filling a cylindrical mold with virgin or filled PTFE resin,
compressing it under high pressure, then free-sintering the preform above the crystalline
melting point. The controlled heating and cooling cycle relieves internal stress and yields a
dense, homogeneous rod that machines cleanly and holds tight tolerances.
Because the material is self-lubricating, it is often used as a direct replacement for
lubricated metal bearings and bushings in food, pharmaceutical and chemical equipment where
external lubrication is not acceptable.
Molded rod is the preferred form when larger diameters, thicker walls or higher-density
material are needed. Compared with extruded rod, molded PTFE offers better dimensional
stability and lower internal stress, which reduces distortion during machining and improves
performance in close-tolerance sealing and bearing applications.
For diameters below 25 mm, extruded rod is often a more economical option. Send us your
finished part drawing and we can advise which stock form is best for your application.
03Performance Highlights
Self-lubricating
Very low coefficient of friction — the rod performs as a self-greasing bearing material without external lubrication.
High thermal resistance
Continuous working temperature up to 250 °C, with service range extending from −200 °C to +250 °C.
Chemically inert
Resists aggressive acids, bases and solvents — does not react with or contaminate the media it contacts.
Excellent dielectric properties
Among the best electrical insulation of any plastic — suitable for high-frequency and high-voltage electrical parts.
Anti-friction and non-stick
Non-stick surface resists product buildup, making the material suitable for food and pharmaceutical contact.
Easy to machine
Homogeneous, stress-relieved stock that machines cleanly on standard lathes and CNC equipment.
04Industries & Applications
Medical
Precision machined components for medical devices and analytical equipment.
Electrical & Electronic
Insulators, spacers and dielectric parts for high-frequency and high-voltage equipment.
Gaskets & Seals
Base material for machining PTFE gaskets, lip seals, chevron rings and O-ring backups.
Seals & Bearings
Self-lubricating bearing bushes, thrust washers, piston rings and slide plates.
Food Processing
Rollers, guides and contact parts where non-stick and non-contaminating behaviour is required.
Chemical Plants
Valve seats, diaphragms, pump parts and corrosion-resistant internals.

07Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose molded or extruded PTFE rod?
Molded rod is the preferred form for larger diameters, thicker walls and higher-density
material. It has better dimensional stability and lower internal stress, which reduces
distortion during machining. Extruded rod is usually more economical for diameters below
25 mm. Send us your finished part drawing and we will advise which stock form is best.
What is the difference between virgin and filled PTFE rod?
Virgin PTFE offers the best chemical resistance, lowest friction coefficient and best
electrical properties — the default choice for sealing, insulation and food contact. Filled
grades (glass fiber, carbon, graphite, bronze, MoS2) improve creep resistance, hardness and
wear resistance for mechanical and high-load applications. Send us the medium, load and
temperature and we will recommend a grade.
What is the maximum continuous service temperature?
Continuous working temperature is 250 °C. The material can also be used down to
−200 °C in cryogenic applications. Above 250 °C the mechanical properties
begin to drop and the material should not be used for structural parts.
Can you machine finished parts from the rod?
Yes. We can machine seals, bearings, bushings, insulators, valve seats and other components to
your drawing. Send the drawing (DWG, DXF, PDF or a sample) and we will confirm tooling, unit
price and lead time.
Do you provide material certificates?
Yes. Material certificates, dimensional inspection reports and grade documentation can be
provided for production orders. Please specify your documentation requirements when sending
the inquiry.
Can I get a sample before placing a bulk order?
Yes. Samples are available for evaluation. Please provide the diameter, length and grade you
need, and we will confirm sample availability and delivery time.
What is your typical lead time?
Lead time depends on diameter, grade, quantity and whether machining is required. Standard
diameters and stock lengths ship quickly; large diameters and machined parts may require
longer preparation. Please confirm with our team when requesting a quotation.
