PTFE Packing

PTFE Packing

Kaxite PTFE Packing is a braided gland packing made from 100% pure PTFE yarn with no lubricant, no graphite and no additives. Because the yarn contains nothing that can be released into the process, the packing is non-toxic and non-marking — the standard choice for food, sugar and chocolate processing, pharmaceutical, specialty chemical and fine paper service. Service temperature range is −150 °C to +260 °C and the material is inert across pH 0–14. Pressure rating is 15 bar rotating, 100 bar reciprocating and 150 bar static, with a maximum shaft speed of 2 m/s and a density of 1.3 g/cm³. The braided construction resists compression set and holds its sealing geometry over long running periods, with minimal shaft wear because the packing is softer than the shaft metal and self-lubricating. Supplied in spools or as pre-formed rings to stuffing box dimensions. Samples are available for evaluation before bulk orders.
Pure PTFE Braided Packing

PTFE Packing — Graphite-Free Braided Gland Packing for Clean Fluid Service

Kaxite PTFE Packing is braided from 100% pure PTFE yarn with no lubricant, no graphite and no additives. It is the standard gland packing for valves and lower shaft-speed equipment running under medium pressure where high purity and chemical resistance are required. Because the yarn contains nothing that can be released into the process, the packing is widely used in food processing, pharmaceutical, specialty chemical and fine paper service — including sugar and chocolate processing lines.

// 01 Description & process

Pure PTFE packing is a braided gland packing made entirely from pure PTFE yarn with no lubricant additive. The yarn is braided into a square or rectangular cross-section and supplied in spools or as pre-formed rings to match the stuffing box dimensions. Because the yarn contains no graphite, no oil and no silicone, the packing does not mark or contaminate the product it seals.

The braid is designed for valves and lower shaft-speed equipment running at medium pressure. It is not a substitute for a high-speed mechanical seal, but where a gland packing is preferred — as in rotary valves, reciprocating pump rods and slow-speed agitators — pure PTFE packing gives a clean, chemically inert seal with minimal shaft wear.

// 03 Prime features
01

Clean, non-contaminating, graphite-free

No graphite, no oil and no silicone in the yarn — the packing does not mark or contaminate the process fluid.

02

Long maintenance-free service life

The braided construction resists gland compression set and holds its sealing geometry over long running periods.

03

Minimal shaft wear and leakage

Pure PTFE is self-lubricating and softer than the shaft metal, so the packing wears before the shaft and does not score the running surface.

04

Superior chemical and thermal performance

Inert to acids, bases, oxidizers and most solvents across pH 0–14, with a service temperature range of −150 °C to +260 °C.

// 04 Typical applications
Food processing

Rotary and reciprocating plant

Valves, pumps and agitators in food processing lines where the sealing element must not contaminate the product.

Sugar & chocolate

Particularly recommended for sugar and chocolate lines

Where graphite-free and non-marking behaviour is essential, pure PTFE packing is the standard choice.

Pharmaceutical

Pharmaceutical and specialty chemical

Clean fluid handling where high purity and full chemical resistance are required at medium pressure.

Pulp & paper

Fine paper production

Rotary and reciprocating equipment in fine paper production, where the packing must resist process chemistry without contaminating the pulp.

// 05 How to order

To quote accurately, please provide the following information with your inquiry:

  • Stuffing box dimensions — square or rectangular cross-section size
  • Quantity required in meters, spools or number of pre-formed rings
  • Application type — rotary valve, reciprocating pump rod, static seal or agitator
  • Media, pressure, temperature and shaft speed
  • Required delivery date and destination port
  • Any documentation requirements — material certificate, inspection report or purity statement
// 06 Buyer questions
What is the difference between PTFE packing and graphite PTFE packing?
Pure PTFE packing contains only PTFE yarn — no graphite, no oil and no other additives. It is used where the packing must not contaminate the process fluid, particularly in food, pharmaceutical and fine paper service. Graphite PTFE packing contains graphite as a lubricant and heat-dissipation additive. It performs better in higher shaft-speed and higher-temperature service, but it can release graphite into the process and is not suitable where contamination is unacceptable.
What shaft speed can PTFE packing handle?
Pure PTFE packing is rated for a shaft speed of up to 2 m/s. Above this speed, gland friction and heat generation rise sharply and a mechanical seal is usually preferred. If you are unsure whether your equipment can use gland packing or should switch to a mechanical seal, send us the shaft diameter, speed and pressure and we will confirm.
Is it suitable for food and pharmaceutical use?
Yes. Because the yarn is 100% pure PTFE with no lubricant, no graphite and no additives, the packing is non-toxic, non-marking and does not release anything into the process fluid. It is widely used in food, beverage, pharmaceutical and specialty chemical service. For specific regulatory or documentation requirements, please state your needs in the inquiry.
Can you supply pre-formed rings or only spools?
We supply both spools and pre-formed rings. Pre-formed rings are cut to the stuffing box dimensions and supplied as a complete set so they can be fitted directly without measuring on site. Please provide the stuffing box bore, shaft diameter and the number of rings needed, and we will confirm ring size and quantity.
Do you provide material certificates and samples?
Yes. Material certificates, dimensional inspection reports and purity documentation are available for production orders. Samples are available for evaluation — please provide the cross-section size and the application conditions, and we will confirm availability and delivery time.
