Kaxite expanded PTFE gasket tape is a wide-format roll of 100% virgin PTFE converted into a soft, multi-directionally fibrillated microporous structure. It is engineered for large-circumference sealing surfaces — vessel shells, manhole covers, heat exchanger heads, tank manways, distillation tower flanges and oversized pipe joints — where a pre-cut gasket is expensive, slow to deliver, or impossible to source.

Unlike narrow-format sealant tape, gasket tape is supplied in widths from 10 mm to 200 mm, giving a single continuous strip that can be laid around any flange circumference and trimmed to length on-site. One roll replaces dozens of pre-cut gasket sizes and eliminates gasket inventory entirely.

Sealant tape is a narrow-format tape (3-100 mm width) designed for small flange faces, threaded pipe joints and instrument connections.

Q3What is the temperature and pressure range?

Continuous service range is -268°C to +260°C, with short-term peaks up to +315°C. Pressure capability ranges from full vacuum up to 200 bar (2,900 psi), depending on tape width, thickness, density grade and bolting conditions. For extreme conditions on large flanges, send us the operating parameters and we will recommend a suitable specification.

Q4Can I use gasket tape on an irregular or damaged flange face?

Yes — this is one of the primary advantages of gasket tape. Because the expanded PTFE structure is 40-60% compressible, it conforms to rough, pitted, scratched and out-of-parallel surfaces that a rigid pre-cut gasket cannot seal. The tape compresses into the flange irregularities at low bolt load and recovers to maintain the seal under thermal cycling.

Q5Are expanded PTFE gasket tapes FDA compliant?

Yes. Our expanded PTFE gasket tapes conform to FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 for food-contact applications, and are RoHS and REACH compliant. The adhesive backing is also food-grade approved. TA-Luft compliance is available for fugitive emission control applications. Material certificates and third-party inspection reports can be supplied with production orders.
