Expanded PTFE Joint Sealant Tapes

Expanded PTFE Joint Sealant Tape is a 100% expanded PTFE gasket material combined with a self-adhesive strip on one face. It can be used as a jointing on all types of flanges and is compatible with almost all fluids because of its excellent corrosion resistance and high pressure resistance. The material is soft, stretched and easy to apply — the tape is stuck onto the sealing face with the adhesive side, then the two ends are crossed together to form a complete sealing ring. This is why it is the ideal sealing material for enamel, glass-lined, rough and specially shaped sealing surfaces.

The fibrillated structure of the expanded PTFE is what gives the tape its conformability. Under bolt load the tape compresses into the pits and scratches of the flange face and stays there, sealing where a rigid gasket would leak. The self-adhesive backing holds the tape in position during assembly on both horizontal and vertical flanges without clamps or additional adhesive.

• Form-In-Place. Conforms to any surface — including rough, pitted, scratched and damaged surfaces — because the material is shaped in position under bolt load, without cutting or stamping.
• Flexible installation. Can be installed on round, oval, rectangular and complex surfaces. The self-adhesive backing holds the tape on both horizontal and vertical flanges without clamps.
• Chemically resistant. Made without fillers or binders — exhibits the same chemical inertness as pure virgin PTFE. Inert across pH 0–14 to almost all industrial fluids.
• Adhesive-backed. Convenient adhesive strip and peel-off backing allow easy installation. Unlimited shelf life, no age deterioration, and resists creep and cold flow.
