Extrusion PTFE Rod

Extrusion PTFE Rod

Kaxite Extrusion PTFE Rod is produced by ram or paste extrusion of virgin PTFE resin, giving a continuous, uniform round bar with consistent diameter tolerance and long standard lengths. Standard diameters range from 5 mm to 200 mm; standard lengths are 900 mm and 1000 mm. Specific gravity is 2.14–2.16 g/cm³ and working temperature up to 250 °C, with a service range from −200 °C to +250 °C. Typical tensile strength is 15–25 MPa and elongation is 200–400%. The material is chemically inert across pH 0–14, has excellent dielectric properties and is self-lubricating. Extruded rod is more economical than molded rod for small and medium diameters. Virgin and filled grades are supported, along with custom diameters, cut-to-length and machined parts to drawing. Samples are available for evaluation before bulk orders.

Extrusion PTFE Rod — Long-Length Virgin & Filled Round Bar

Kaxite Extrusion PTFE Rod is produced by ram or paste extrusion of virgin PTFE resin, giving a continuous, uniform round bar with excellent dimensional consistency and long standard lengths. Compared with molded rod, extruded rod is more economical for small and medium diameters and is the standard choice for machining seals, bushes, gaskets and precision electrical parts.

Available in white and custom colors, in virgin and filled grades, with diameter ranges from 5 mm to 200 mm and lengths up to 1000 mm. Cut-to-length and fully machined components are supported to drawing.

Material Choice
Extruded vs molded PTFE rod
PTFE Molded Rod

Compression molded

  • Better for large diameters and thicker walls
  • Higher density and lower internal stress
  • Best dimensional stability during machining
  • Preferred for heavy-load bearing and sealing parts
VS
Extrusion PTFE Rod

Ram / paste extruded

  • More economical for small and medium diameters
  • Longer continuous lengths in stock
  • Consistent diameter tolerance across the length
  • Standard choice for seals, bushes, gaskets and electrical parts
Performance
Why extruded PTFE rod
01

Very low friction

Self-lubricating surface with one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid material.

02

Chemically inert

Resistant to acids, bases and most solvents — does not react with or contaminate media.

03

High thermal range

Continuous working temperature up to 250 °C, with service range from cryogenic to high heat.

04

Excellent dielectric

Among the best electrical insulation of any plastic — ideal for high-frequency and HV parts.

05

Non-stick surface

Low adhesion surface, suitable for food contact and pharmaceutical applications.

06

Consistent machining

Uniform structure and stable diameter along the full rod length for predictable turning results.

Applications
Where extruded rod is used
A1

Seals, bushes & gaskets

Base material for machining PTFE seals, bushings, gaskets and V-rings across chemical and process equipment.

A2

Electrical & electronic parts

Insulators, spacers, standoffs and dielectric components for high-frequency and high-voltage applications.

A3

Food & pharmaceutical

Rollers, guides, seals and contact parts where non-stick and non-contaminating behaviour is required.

A4

Automotive & aerospace

Low-friction and chemical-resistant components in fuel systems, brake components and hydraulic systems.

A5

Chemical processing

Valve seats, liners, pump parts and corrosion-resistant internals for aggressive chemical service.

A6

Mechanical parts

Wear plates, slide pads, piston rings and non-lubricated bearing components in industrial machines.

FAQ
Buyer questions
What is the difference between extruded and molded PTFE rod?
Extruded rod is produced by forcing PTFE resin through a die, giving a continuous round bar with consistent diameter and long standard lengths. It is more economical for small and medium diameters. Molded rod is compression molded from resin and offers higher density, better dimensional stability and lower internal stress — the preferred form for large diameters and heavy-load applications.
What is the difference between ram extrusion and paste extrusion?
Ram extrusion pushes granular PTFE resin through a heated die under high pressure — it is used for larger rods and tubes. Paste extrusion mixes PTFE resin with a lubricant to form a paste that is extruded into thin rods and tubes, then dried and sintered. Both processes produce continuous extruded rod; the choice depends on diameter and grade.
What diameters and lengths are available?
Standard diameter range is 5 mm to 200 mm. Standard lengths are 900 mm and 1000 mm. Custom diameters, cut-to-length and machined-to-drawing parts are available on request.
Can you machine finished parts from the rod?
Yes. We machine seals, bushes, insulators, valve seats, piston rings and other components to your drawing. Send DWG, DXF, PDF or a physical sample and we will confirm tooling, unit price and lead time.
Do you provide material certificates?
Yes. Material certificates, dimensional inspection reports and grade documentation can be provided for production orders. Please specify your documentation requirements when sending the inquiry.
Can I get a sample before placing a bulk order?
Yes. Samples are available for evaluation. Please provide the diameter, length, grade and color you need, and we will confirm sample availability and delivery time.
What is your typical lead time?
Lead time depends on diameter, grade, quantity and whether machining is required. Standard diameters and stock lengths ship quickly; large diameters and machined parts may require longer preparation. Please confirm with our team when requesting a quotation.
